Good evening Vampires Community

I am writing to our members this evening to provide you with an update on the latest developments regarding COVID-19 and how it impacts the upcoming season.

Today, the AFL has strongly advised all Community Leagues to delay the start of their seasons until at least 31 May 2020.

The SMJFL will consult with all Club Presidents prior to making a decision as to the start date of the SMJFL season.

There is a pre-scheduled Club Conference taking place this Sunday 22nd March (via Webinar).  This was originally scheduled as an information and training day for Club officials to assist in their preparation for the upcoming season.  The focus of this session will now form part of the consultation process to help the SMJFL consider what format the season may take (i.e. how many rounds, finals, etc.)

It is important for the League to connect with the Clubs before making a decision regarding the structure of the season.

I’m sure you will appreciate the fluidity and uncertainty surrounding the decision making process as our Community responds to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Official pre-season training and practice matches will remain suspended until further notice.

As per my previous correspondence, I’d encourage our kids to keep practicing their skills wherever that may be.

If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to my email address

Go Vampires!
